Half of a purse bar
Description
English: Part of a copper alloy purse frame, consisting of a bar, 9mm across, with an incised inscription along the length, on both sides. THe inscription is no longer legible. The bar ends in a knop in the form of two spheres joined by a waisted section through which there is a hole. There are two attachment plates along the bar, one of which is damaged. Type A purse bars with attachment plates found in excavations in Norwich [Margeson 1993, p43] have been dated to the 17th century on.
