Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Illustration of the total internal reflection in a right-angle prism. Cast glass "pendant half-prisms" are used in vault lights (pavement lights) set into sidewalks; the protruding horizontal portions of the prism let it be set into an opening in an iron or cement grid. Some pendant prisms also have flat portions to shed light directly below, as well as throwing it sideways under the main body of the building.
