Provenance: purchased 1969 from Leger Galleries Ltd (Grant-in-Aid) 1969. Commissioned 1780 by Sir Robert Palk, 1st Baronet of Haldon House; by descent to Evelyn Elizabeth Palk, who married Major Ernest Gambier-Parry, 1880; their son Thomas Mark Gambier-Parry; purchased by Leger Galleries Ltd 1968.
