Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Haie Hill Tunnel The bricked up west portal to the Haie Hill Tunnel on the former Newnham-on-Severn to Cinderford railway. This tunnel pre-dates steam locomotives and was opened in 1809 by the Bullo Pill Railway company. This early railway was used to carry coal from the mines of the Forest of Dean. When it was built its length of 1,083 yards made it the longest tunnel in the world.
