English: Haft Sin!
For Persian New Year, people make their table like this which is called 7 Sin. Sin(س) is one of the Persian alphabets. Usually people put 7 things that their name starts with س such as: •Apple (Sib سیب) as a symbol of beauty, •Coin (Sekeh سکه) as a symbol of wealth, •Vinegar(Serkeh سرکه) as a symbol of patient and long life, •Garlic(Sir سیر) as a symbol of healthiness, •Greenery(Sabzeh سبزه) as a symbol of new born, •Mämmi (Samanooسمنو) as a symbol of blessing and abundance, •Oleaster (Senjed سنجد) as a symbol of love, •Sumac (Somagh سماق) as a symbol of redness of Sunlight, •Hyacinth(Sonbol سنبل). They also put some other stuff like: Book (کتاب) as a symbol of civilization and wisdom; Muslim usually puts Quran and others put Poetry books, set of Gold Fishes as a symbol of life, Candle, Colorize Egg, Mirror, Persian Pastry, Rose water, and dried Nuts. |
