Haemodynamometer, London, England, 1895-1905
Title
Haemodynamometer, London, England, 1895-1905
Description

The degree of pressure of blood in an artery or vein can be measured using a haemodynamometer. It was invented by British physician George Oliver (1841-1915). It works by a thin rubber pad filled with glycerine and water compressing the pulse. Blood pressure was then indicated on the dial. This example was made in London by instrument maker Hawksley and Sons Limited.
