Rückseite: DIA-NA // EPHESIA. Sechssäuliger Tempel der Artemis von Ephesos mit Kultbild in der Cella. Kommentar: Überprägungsspuren auf Vorder- und Rückseite. Versuchte Lochung. - Kaiser Hadrianus ließ aus zumeist wirtschaftlichen Gründen für seine Cistophoren alte und abgeriebene Münzen des Marcus Antonius und des Augustus überprägen. Auf diesem Stück ist auf der Vorderseite eine Schlange am Hals des Kaisers und auf der Rückseite der Hinterkopf des Marcus Antonius mit dem Augurenstab (lituus) sichtbar, der durch die Umschriftfragmente M ANTONIVS [...] ERT, identifiziert werden kann. Die Datierung resultiert auf der Untersuchung der hadrianischen Cistophoren durch Metcalf (1980) 123, der den Prägezeitraum zwischen 128 und 130 n. Chr. annimmt. Literatur: M.
