Summary
[edit]DescriptionHadrian's Wall at Birdoswald - geograph.org.uk - 552095.jpg |
English: Hadrian's Wall at Birdoswald, near to Gilsland, Cumbria, Great Britain.
There is a particularly fine length of Hadrian's Wall <a title="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadrian's_Wall" rel="nofollow" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadrian's_Wall">Link</a><img style="padding-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="http://s0.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/> (World Heritage Site) still standing immediately to the west of Birdoswald Roman Fort. The line of the Wall is broadly followed both by the Hadrian's Wall National Trail <a title="http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/hadrianswall/" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/hadrianswall/">Link</a><img style="padding-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="http://s0.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/> (immediately to the left of the Wall at this point) and by Hadrian's Cycleway <a title="http://www.cycle-routes.org/hadrianscycleway/" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.cycle-routes.org/hadrianscycleway/">Link</a><img style="padding-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="http://s0.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/> which here follows the minor road to the right of the Wall. |
