English: ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Today, Congresswoman Deb Haaland (D-NM) connected with Constituents at a District Swearing In followed by a Coffee with your Congresswoman event in Albuquerque.
The District Swearing In was an event held at the North Valley Senior Center in which constituents who may not have been able to attend the official swearing in at the U.S. Capitol could experience New Mexico’s historic Congressional swearing in. Full video of the District Swearing In is available here. After the District Swearing In, more than 200 people attended Haaland’s Coffee with Your Congresswoman event at Humble Coffee Downtown. The event gave folks an opportunity to connect with the Congresswoman and hear updates about the work she is doing in Washington D.C., including her work tackling climate change and building a renewable energy economy as Vice Chair of the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee and protecting our military installations and labs on the U.S. House Armed Forces Committee. Constituents asked questions about health care, the opioid epidemic, early childhood education, the Green New Deal, and the Violence Against Women Act. “When I’m in the district, it’s extremely important for me to touch base with the folks at home – they’re the reason why I’m in Congress fighting for a Green New Deal, good paying jobs, and quality education for all students no matter where they come from,” said Congresswoman Deb Haaland. “My district office is always open, and we have a customer service priority. If anyone needs assistance with a federal agency or has an issue they would like to bring to my attention, the door is always open – I want people to know that I know their struggle and I’m on their side.” |
