A U.S. Navy Piasecki UH-25C Retriever of Helicopter Utility Squadron HU-1 Det.B "Pacific Fleet Angels" in flight. HU-1 Det.B was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14) for a deployment to the Western Pacific from 3 January to 15 July 1963. Note the inscription "ABANDON CHUTE" below the cockpit, instructing downed pilots to donn their parachute before pick-up by the helicopter. |
