English: HMS Verdun (yard number 493) and HMS Versatile, both V Class destroyers, under construction at the Hawthorn Leslie shipyard, Hebburn, 5 May 1917 (TWAM ref. 4471/3). After the First World War HMS Verdun was given the honour of bringing the body of the Unknown Warrior back to Britain.
