DescriptionHMS Stork crew 1942 IWM A 8663.jpg |
English: IWM caption : Admiral Sir Percy Noble KCB CVO, Commander in Chief Western Approaches from February 1941 to November 1942, addressing the ship's company of HMS STORK after the sinking of U 574 on 9 December 1941, at Liverpool. FURTHER INFORMATION: Original caption notes: U 574 attacked a convoy after two other U-Boats had been sunk. HMS STORK replied with depth charges which forced the U-Boat to surface, badly damaged. The crew abandoned her just as she was rammed and sunk. The three U-Boats, all built in 1941 and only commissioned six months had sunk only one ship between them. |
