Description |
English: HMS 'Queen Elizabeth' (1913). A group of officers on the portside after end of the forecastle deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth (1913). One of them is walking past the duty botswain who is standing in the lee of the vent forward of 'X' turret. Of the remaining three, the tall figure to the left is Staff Surgeon Arthur D. Cowburn RNVR. Some of the ship's smaller boats, including what may be a coppering punt or life raft can be seen near the turret barbette, while to the right an ash chute has been fitted to the guardrail. The rear door to the turret is open.
This photograph was probably taken shortly after negative N16787. |
