Matthew Hackett, the sergeant major of Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, and a Seattle native, delivers the final roll call during the memorial service held in honor of the squadron’s 12 fallen Marines, Jan. 22, 2016, aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii. On January 14, 2016, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Hawaiian Standard Time, two CH-53E Super Stallions from HMH-463 were involved in a mishap while conducting routine training approximately two miles off the northern coast of Oahu. The governor of the state of Hawaii has ordered that the flag of the United States and state of Hawaii be flown at half-staff for five days from sunrise on Friday, Jan. 22, to sunset on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016.
