After HMAS Swan was paid-off in September 1962, Anzac assumed the role of fleet training ship as a consequence of which her B turret was hoisted out and a special classroom was built on B deck in 1965. In the succeeding years, Anzac steamed many more thousands of miles on training cruises and fleet exercises before being paid-off when HMAS Duchess re-entered service as a training ship in 1974.
