Description
Deutsch: Der im lübeckischem Handwerksleben nahm Stender eine einflussreiche Stellung ein und genoss wegen seiner uneigennützigen Tätigkeit im Dienste des Gemeinwohls ein großes Ansehen. 1899 bis 1911 gehörte er der Bürgerschaft an und wiederholt auch dem Bürgerausschuss an. Hier hat er mit regem Interesse als fachkundiger Berater – vornehmlich in Fragen des Handwerks – und als tatkräftiger Mitarbeiter gewirkt. 25 Jahre war er Obermeister der Innung Bauhütte, lanse Zeit auch Vorsitzender des Arbeitgeberverbandes für das Baugewerbe, der ihm bei seinem Abgang zum Ehrenmitglied ernannte. Ferner war er Vorsitzender des Gewerkvereins und Vorstandsmitglied des Haus- und Grundbesitzvereins. Er widmete er sich der Wohnungspflege und Grundstückfürsorge, war Mitglied der Behörde für Wohnungspflege und Beisitzer des Wohnungsamtes. Seit Jahrzehnten nahm er die Geschäfte eines Grundstückschätzers für die städtische und vorstädtische Brandkasse wahr.
