Description
Deutsch: Karl wurde als jümgster Sohn am 26. Mai 1892 in Lübeck geboren. Nachdem er Ostern 1909 auf dem Katharineum sein Zeugnis der mittleren Reife erhalten hatte, bezog er zum Studium der Rechtswissenschaften für drei Semester die Universität Tübingen. Nach kurzem Aufenthalt in England ging er nach Berlin und Kiel. In der Examensvorbereitung brach der Krieg aus. Nach bestandenem Notexamen ging er in der Absicht, in einem dortigem von ihm zur Erfüllung seiner Wehrpflicht ausgesuchtem Reiterregiment, als Kriegsfreiwilliger einzutreten. Er kam zu spät und fand nach langem Suchen Aufnahme im 18. Bayrischen Infanterie-Regiment in Landau und zog Anfang Oktober in den Krieg. Nachdem er in Péronne, Lille und Comines mitgekämpft hatte, fiel er am 4. November 1914 beim Sturm auf ein Wäldchen bei Hollebeke. Er und sieben Kameraden wurden erst am 27. Januar 1915 gefunden und in der Nähe des Schlosses Albert begraben.

Après avoir obtenu son diplôme d'études secondaires au Katharineum à Pâques 1909, il est allé à l'Université de Tübingen pendant trois semestres pour étudier le droit. Après un court séjour en Angleterre, il se rendit à Berlin et à Kiel. La guerre a éclaté lors de la préparation de l'examen. Après avoir passé le Notexamen, il s'y rend avec l'intention d'y rejoindre un régiment de cavalerie, qu'il a choisi pour accomplir son service militaire, en tant que volontaire de guerre. Il est venu trop tard et après une longue recherche a trouvé une place dans le 18. Bavarian Infantry Regiment à Landau et partit en guerre début octobre. Après avoir combattu à Péronne, Lille et Comines, il tombe le 4 novembre 1914 en prenant d'assaut un bosquet près de Hollebeke. Lui et sept camarades n'ont été retrouvés que le 27 janvier 1915 et enterrés près du château d'Albert.
