English: The Hōjō or Hōjō Hall [1] (方丈, Hōjō), the head priest's living quarters is behind the gate, and there is a pond in the garden (shinji-ike, 心字池) formed in the shape of the character "心." (pronounced shin, 'kokoro', meaning heart)
The Engakuji Temple[2] (Engaku-ji, 円覚寺 えんがくじ.) is built on the slopes of a forested hill in Kita-Kamakura (Yamanouchi [3]), Kamakura City[4], Kanagawa Prefecture. Engakuji is one of the leading Zen temples in eastern Japan and the second of Kamakura's five great Zen temples. The temple was founded in 1282 under the auspices of the eighth regent (shikken) Hōjō Tokimune[5]. a year after the second invasion attempt by the Mongols [6] had been reverted.
