| Description |
La création de la ville de Bâle remonterait à l'époque romaine et plus précisément à l'époque que nous connaissons bien : sous Jules César et au début de l'Empire. En effet, le militaire et politicien Lucius Munatius Plancus lors de ses fonctions en Gaule avait créé un avant-post à proximité. C'est pour cela que la ville fit une commande au XVIe siècle pour mettre à l'honneur ce glorieux personnage. Pour autant, aucune preuve ne fut trouvée dans la ville-même mais plutôt dans la ville voisine d'Augst.
