Description Insbesondere an Schönheides Hauptstraße ist die stadtähnliche Bebauung ausgeprägt. Vorn links: An der zur DDR-Zeit „Platz des Friedens“ und davor „Gustav-Haupt-Platz“ genannten platzartigen Erweiterung der Hauptstraße ein Stück oberhalb der Geschwister-Scholl-Schule sind drei mehrgeschossige Wohn- und Geschäftshäuser aneinander gebaut. Das östliche Haus entstand als Letztes Anfang der 1920er Jahre – mit einer Bankfiliale. Das mittlere Haus errichtete in der Gründerzeit Eduard Möckel für seine Eisenwaren- und Baustoffhandlung sowie sein Haushaltswarengeschäft, das 2016 noch besteht (mit Filiale der Post). Das westliche Haus entstand in den 1910er Jahren für eine Drogerie, die Kreuz-Drogerie Johannes Pestel, auch sie besteht 2016 noch. Die Tankstelle davor wurde Anfang der 1990er Jahre abgebaut. Von ihr zeugt nur noch ein kleines Holzhäuschen.
Auf der linken Straßenseite folgen Häuser aus der Zeit vor der Industrialisierung (vorn in Weiß Haus Hauptstraße 81), dies wird an den kleineren Dimensionen deutlich. Man kann fast bis an die Dachrinne fassen. Im Hintergrund folgen dann wieder Häuser aus dem Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Das Haus ganz rechts - Hauptstraße 94 - hat die Gemeinde Schönheide im Jahr 2016 zum Abbruch gekauft. Dieses Haus wurde im Jahr 2017 abgerissen.
