Description
English: Gypsy moth survey location, consisting of an identification tag and a flap of vinyl stapled to the bark of an oak tree. During periods of larva activity, the flap is lifted and the larva are counted. The larva generally feed at night, drop to the forest floor during the day, then climb the tree the next night. As they climb the trunk they are intercepted by the flap. Location: Northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA
