The ureter lies on the psoas muscle throughout its abdominalcourse, at the brim of the pelvis it lies on the common iliacartery. Within the pelvis it runs downward just outside the in-ternal iliac artery, and then, turning forward and crossing underthe uterine artery, it passes half-way between the pelvic wall and ANATOMY 105 the cervix, at a distance of about half aninch from the latter, under the base of the broadligament to the bladder.
