| Description |
English: Southward on A141 at Guyhirne, near site of former station, 1995. The former ex-GN&GE Joint main line March (to right) - (to left) Spalding - Sleaford - Lincoln - Doncaster crossed here on a viaduct just ahead, part of which survives. Guyhirne station was on the right: it closed to passengers on 5/10/53 (to goods on 5/10/64). Moreover, owing to the collapse of the wagon-load freight traffic, particularly of coal, on the Railways and the closure of the great Whitemoor Marshalling Yard at March, the March - Spalding section of this important main line was abandoned from 28/11/82, such traffic remaining being worked via Peterborough instead. |
