Description
English: Guyana has 2 disputed Areas. With Venezuela, this dispute is over the Guayana Esequiba Region (The area west of the Esequibo River). Venezuela Operates a Military Base at Anacoco Island (Ankoko). With Suriname the dispute is over the area between the Upper-Corentyne and the Coeroeni river. Since 1969 Guyana illegally operates a military base in the disputed zone.a second military location deeper in the disputed area was recently discovered. Guyana and Suriname agreed to de-militarize the area but Guyana never kept to this agreement.
