In the adjacent Baptistery aresculptured ornaments by Balsamelloda Settignano, a font by AndreaSansovino, and a tabernacle byMino da Fiesole. The Museo Nazionale has avaluable collection of Etruscanantiquities, including funeral urnsand caskets, statuettes, bronzes, in-scriptions, vases, coins, and orna-ments in gold. Many of the urns areof pure white alabaster, which isstill so common in the district thatthe roads are often mended with it. After the Museum and the walls,the most interesting of the Etruscanremains at Volterra is the Tomb atthe Villa higher ami, nearly 2 m.E. of the town. On the way to itwe pass the Convent of S. Girolamo,which has two good terra- cottareliefs of the Robbia school, and anAnnunciation by Benvenuto diGiovanni.
