is an excellentstarting-point for excursions to themountains of this valley, especiallyfor the ascent of the famous Laugen,on the summit of which, a hut hasbeen erected by the Alpine Club. FROM INNSBRUCK via LANDECKto MERAN. By the Vorarlberg R. R.to Landeck in 1V2-2V2 hours, passingthe following places and stations onthe way: The first place the trainstops at is Zirl, a pretty little hamlet,at the foot of the Martinswand (SeeInnsbruck, Austria). Looming upabove the town is the castle ofFragenstein, said to be connected withthe popular tradition of Frau HuttrQueen of the Giants, who once reignedhere by right of conquest, but whowas so hard-hearted and unmindfulof the sufferings of the poor, that as.a punishment she was changed intostone, and may still be seen, seatedon the rocks, looking down upon thefertile valley.
