D., 1848. Surmounting tne shafl is the fig-ure of a hreman rescuing a little child from theangry flames. (See cut). A few feet from this, overlooking the waters,Is a lasting tribute of love, erected by HarryHoward, who was, in life. Chief of the entireFire Department of the City of New York. It isin memory of his foster-mother, and is of whitemarble* with a figure of his mother surmounting it. At the corner of Fern and Greenbough Ave-nues, stands the elaborate White Parisian mar-ble monument erected by Charles Carda, in lov-ing memory of his daughter.
