Español: Patricio Ibarra Cifuentes escribió:"“Un coronel peruano ante una explosión de dinamita en las fortificaciones de Arica” dice la leyenda de ese grabado publicado por El Ferrocarrilito el 15 de junio de 1880. A días del asalto y toma del morro de Arica, este periódico se mofó del efecto que tuvieron las minas y polvorazos instalados en las fortificaciones del recién conquistado puerto, entre las propias tropas peruanas, al mostrar a un coronel huyendo horrorizado de ellas. Por el contrario, estos sistemas de armas provocaron entre los soldados chilenos mucha molestia, pues los consideraban dignos de cobardes, lo cual llevó a proceder con energía y por momentos con descontrol durante la batalla de Arica."
