| Description |
This is a World War II bunker in the middle of a neighborhood in the Vesterbro section of Copenhagen, Denmark. I thought this bunker fit this week's theme of "guarded" at several levels. This is where people could seek shelter during air raids during the war. They were protected, or guarded, by the design of the shelter. The color pink is a contrast to the bunker. You would want to hide people from the enemy, but the color pink attracts attention. This may be due to a campaign about the future of this area called "Liva Weels Plads" or "Liva Weel's Square". Maintaining an area that is pleasing to all residents is also something that residents in urban areas feel strongly about. They guard their neighborhoods in the sense that they want to protect and maintain the safe and friendly atmosphere and keep it pretty and attractive for future buyers of apartments here. By the way, I have no idea what the boat is doing up there. Probably something for kids to play on? |
