Title
Group Among the Almond Blossoms
Description

A large group, predominantly women, standing among blossoming trees and holding small branches of blossoms. It is possible they are a tour group. From the mid 1930s-1950s Almond blossom tours in Marion were popular. Bus loads of people would come from interstate from July through to August to walk among the blossoms.

According to the City of Marion website "During the 1930s the Marion district produced one third of the almonds grown in Australia."

There was even a poem written about almond blossom in South Australia by KM Williams which begins: "Oh! Lovely South Australia Now the almond blossom sways; And each proud tree her floral crown, Alluringly displays.
