Summary
[edit]DescriptionGrounds of Thingwall Hall - geograph.org.uk - 597753.jpg |
English: Grounds of Thingwall Hall Land to the front of Thingwall Hall, a former stately home situated near Knotty Ash. The grade II listed building was built early in the 19th century and was originally set in 60 acres of grounds. A £60 million, 18-acre development of 528 homes by Redrow had been planned for this site and has been vehemently opposed by local residents and councils for many years. Recently planning officers dropped their opposition so in a few years' time this photograph could be all that remains of the green fields and woods on the hill where Viking chiefs once met.
