| Description |
De Freedom tower is de naam van het geplande, centrale gebouw van het nieuwe World Trade Center in New York. De toren is een ontwerp van de architect Daniel Libeskind. De toren zal een hoogte krijgen van 1776 voet (541 meter) wat het jaar 1776 symboliseert, het jaar waarin het Amerikaanse Congres de onafhankelijkheidsverklaring aanneemt. De hoogte tot het hoogste dak zal 415 meter bedragen. Op 27 april 2006 is de bouw van de funderingen officieel begonnen, de bouw zal naar verwachting worden afgerond in 2012 of 2013. The Freedom Tower is the main building of the new World Trade Center complex currently under construction in Lower Manhattan in New York City. Construction on below-ground utility relocations, footings, and foundations for the 1,776-foot (541 m) Freedom Tower began on April 27, 2006. Three other high-rise office buildings are planned for the site along Greenwich Street, and they will surround the World Trade Center Memorial, which is currently under construction. The area will also be home to a museum dedicated to the history of the site |
