Description
Deutsch: Tal der Großen Lauter bei Gundelfingen (Stadtteil von Münsingen), Schwäbische Alb. Die Große Lauter fließt hier um einen nahezu geschlossenen Umlaufberg, der auf der Spitze eine Ruine, eine Kapelle und an seinem südlichen Fuß mehrere Häuser aufweist. Früher wird der gesamte Umlaufberg eine Wacholderheide gewesen sein, heute sind nur noch die sonnenabgewandten Seiten Wacholderheide, auf den Sonnenseiten befinden sich Tannen, Laubbäume und Büsche, die zum Teil Folge natürlicher Sukzession sind.

Das landwirtschaftlich besiedelte, teils beweidete, breite Tal und der Umlaufberg sind offensichtlich von einer weit größeren, plio-pleistozänen Ur-Lauter geschaffen worden, für die es geologische Belege gibt (vgl. Foto: Image:Strunkpass-Geologie_Grosse-Urlauter_Echaztobel_Gross-Engstingen_Schwaebische-Alb.jpg).

Das bei Ausflüglern sehr beliebte Flüsschen entspringt heute in einer schönen, relativ stark schüttenden Karstquelle innerhalb der Mauern eines ehemaligen Frauenklosters in Offenhausen (Gomadingen). Das Tal und das es großflächig säumende Gebiet ist heute als Landschaft gesetzlich geschützt.

English: Valley of river Grosse Lauter at Gundelfingen (administrative division of Münsingen), Swabian Alb. A huge Ur-Lauter formed in plio-pleistocene time an almost complete meander cutoff with a mountain around. Except for a ruin and a chapel the mountain used to be a complete calcareous grassland. On the sunny side there are meanwhile trees and bushes, partly result of natural ecologial succsession and also a few houses. The fertile valley is ground for acres and heaths, cultivated by peoples, who live in the village “Gundelfingen”.
