Description
Deutsch: Spätherbstliches Tal der Großen Lauter bei Gundelfingen (Stadtteil von Münsingen), Schwäbische Alb. Die kleine Große Lauter fließt häufig gemächlich mäandernd durch die Talauen. Es gibt nur wenige, kleine Orte im gesamten Tal. Für Dörfer fehlten ausreichende Flächen zum Ackerbau und zu geeigneten Hochflächen waren erst steile Talhänge zu überwinden. Auch für die Viehhaltung waren die wenigen Wiesenflächen der klimatisch rauen Alb wenig geeignet.

Das breite Tal wurde offensichtlich von einer weit größeren, plio-pleistozänen Ur-Lauter geschaffen, dafür gibt es auch geologische Belege (vgl. Foto: Image:Strunkpass-Geologie_Grosse-Urlauter_Echaztobel_Gross-Engstingen_Schwaebische-Alb.jpg). Wie häufig in Albtälern, blieben die gegenüber gebankten Weißjurakalken härteren Massenkalk-Felsen an den Hängen erhalten.

Das bei Ausflüglern sehr beliebte Flüsschen entspringt heute in einer schönen, relativ stark schüttenden Karstquelle innerhalb der Mauern eines ehemaligen Frauenklosters in Offenhausen (Gomadingen). Tal und Umland sind heute als Landschaft gesetzlich geschützt.

The valley is a very attractive racing course for motor bike drivers. This noise annoys the inhabitants and the attraction for thousands of tourists, “Wanderer”, bike drivers, boaters, who expect to find a beautiful, yet calm Alb-valley.
