| Description |
English: Grinton Lead Smelting Mill The only smelt mill left standing in the Dales dates from about 1820 and has survived by being used for agricultural purposes after smelting ceased. The two ranges remaining are the mill itself left in photo and the peat store right. The photo is taken from a breached dam which provided a head of water for the watermill which powered the bellows necessary for the smelting process. |
