English: Grim's Ditch at Great Yews wood. A byway cuts through the ditch here. I think the Ditch is the bit between the two fences to the right of the stile. It is heavily overgrown and there is really nothing to see. Google says "The Saxons named the devil Grim or Odin, and they used the term 'Grim's Ditch' for various linear earthworks, probably as a means of explaining their origins." |
