Description
English: Grey Street & Earl Grey Monument The junction with Hood Street is on the right.

Grey's Monument is 135ft high, shorter than Nelsons Column in London at 169 feet. Earl Grey's statue was sculpted by Edward Hodges Baily who also made Lord Nelson's in London. The statue is 13 feet high and stands on a pedestal above a balcony reached by 164 steps within the column. The monument erected to commemorate the efforts of Charles 2nd Earl Grey towards parliamentary reform, and was built in 1837-38. A flavoured tea was also named for him.
