Summary
[edit]DescriptionGreta Access sign - geograph.org.uk - 1227006.jpg |
English: Greta Access sign. The River Greta has a model canoeists' access agreement of the type now held to be fair to canoeists under the ancient laws of navigation, whilst protective of the environment - particularly fish spawning beds. By voluntarily accepting a restriction on paddling at low water levels in the critical months of November and December each year, canoeists demonstrate their willingness to cooperate with conservation and angling interests in reaching voluntary access agreements, without materially sacrificing their right to share the river with other users when conditions are suitable. This sign is on the gate giving access to the usual put-in for the river, on river left downstream of the bridge at the confluence of St. John's Beck and the Glenderamackin 1226997. |
