| Inscription | Dreiherrensteine am Rennsteig im Thüringer Wald Der Rennsteig als Kammweg des Thüringer Waldes verläuft von jeher an der Grenze beiderseitiger Hoheitsgebiete, wo an den Berührungspunkten zwischen drei Herrschaftsterritorien meist wappenverzierte sogenannte "Dreiherrensteine" stehen, von denen neun noch erhalten sind. Das Original dieses Dreiwappensteins steht im Thüringer Schiefergebirge an der Grenze zu Bayern bei Brennersgrün südlich von Wurzbach. Zum Zeitpunkt seiner Abmarkung (14. Oktober 1717) grenzte dort das nördliche Kurfürstentum Sachsen an das Hochstift Bamberg und die Markgrafschaft Bayreuth im Süden. Das Kurfürstentum Sachsen umfasste damals weite Gebiete Thüringens. |
