One Tree Hillderived its name from having but one large tree onits summit, which was blown down in August, 1848.The first mulberry tree planted in England is said tohave been by King James I. at Greenwich. Certainlythis King issued a Royal Edict, about 1605, recom-mending the cultivation of silk worms, and offeringpackets of mulberry seed to all who would sow them.The Park was disjoined from the Palace when thelatter was made into an hospital, about 1694. Rangers and Keepers of Greenwich Park.
