Summary
[edit]DescriptionGreenodd geograph-3581461-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Site of former Greenodd station, on A590, 1998. View northward, towards Haverthwaite and Windermere Lakeside: ex-Furness Railway, Ulverston - Lakeside branch. On this stretch past Greenodd, the 1970s-widened A590 road has been built along the track-bed, so no trace of the railway seems to remain. Greenodd station closed to passengers from 30/9/46, to goods from 2/12/63. All-year passenger services were run to Lakeside in summer only from 1939, not at all 1941-45, and the line closed completely on 6/9/65. However, from 2/5/73 it has been restored between Haverthwaite and Lakeside by the heritage H&L Railway - which clearly cannot get back through here to Ulverston! |
