Summary
[edit]DescriptionGreen Man at Charlecote House.jpg |
English: Local artists provided exhibits on folkloric themes for an art trail in the grounds of the National Trust house at Charlecote in Warwickshire. This one depicted the Green Man or foliate head, a common theme of medieval sculpture which shows a head embedded in or made of leaves. Rediscovered in the 1930s, he soon became the figurehead for people’s feelings about a pagan natural order.
