Description Photo of the then modern Oriental Limited and the William Crooks. In May of 1924, the Great Northern Railway began a cross-country exhibition tour in Chicago with its first locomotive (William Crooks) and its state of the art deluxe train (Oriental Limited). The exhibition stopped in the cities served by the railroad (Minneapolis/St. Paul, Fargo, Grand Forks, Portland, Spokane and Seattle). The trains were at GN stations for a given period of time, allowing the public to see and tour the trains. The tour celebrated 60 years of the Great Northern Railway and the William Crooks pulled the cars which were original to it in 1862. File:William Crooks 1924.JPG clipping via en:Newspapers.com
