Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Great Canfield Park, Hope End Green, Essex. As seen in this photo of Great Canfield Park, there is a I5th century manor house, which originated as a hunting lodge in a deer park. The Earl of Oxford, who owned much land hereabouts, built it in 1456. The property changed hands several times until acquired by the Maynard family in the 17th century. It remained in their hands for 300 years and was bought in 1928 by the late General Claud Charlton, High Sheriff of Essex, 1947-48
