Summary
[edit]DescriptionGravstensgrund1.jpg |
English: Gravstensgrund: a small skerry in Åland, at the border between Kumlinge and Brändö (just in Kumlinge territory) where in an ice cold november night in 1773, ten people, amongst them the Swedish 27-year old lieutenant Gustaf Adolph Taube, sailed in an open sailing boat from Stockholm back to Turku and were smashed by a southeastern storm on this rock and capsized. Only two men survived this adventure and could be saved two anxious days later. NB The island was at that time much smaller than nowadays, because the land rises almost a meter every century.
