Summary
[edit]DescriptionGravestones in the General Cemetery - geograph.org.uk - 790057.jpg |
English: Gravestones in the General Cemetery An interesting variety of gravestone styles.
The rectangular one in the middle is inscribed: "In loving memory of Arthur, son of Samuel & Mary Wright, who died Dec 2nd 1879, Aged 2 years. Also of John, son of the above . . ." A certain lack of clarity in the way it is worded implies a remarkable biological precocity! A notable feature of this Cemetery is the remarkably tight spacing between the grave plots, not just the width, but also the length. Apart from those alongside the walks, like these, it is impossible to visit graves without walking across other plots. |
