Summary
[edit]DescriptionGravestone of Fred Rayner at Grove Road Cemetery (8).JPG |
The gravestone of Sergeant Major Fred Rayner DCM (1880 – 1 May 1918) of the West Yorkshire Regiment, in Grove Road Cemetery, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Rayner won the DCM in January 1917. Note: Harrogate Council laid down many of the gravestones and monuments in its cemeteries after a child was killed by a falling tombstone in this cemetery in the year 2000. Later they took away the stone crosses which used to surmount the stones that you see in the background here. |
