| Description |
English: Grave of 'The Angel of Llangan' David Jones (1736-1810) was born near Lampeter and became the rector of Llangan in Glamorgan. He was one of the most celebrated preachers of the Methodist Revival, regularly drawing congregations of thousands all over Wales and England too. Not clear why he was buried here at Manorowen but he was much admired by Richard Fenton.
The inscription says: Sacred to the memory of the Revd David Jones Rector of Langan[sic] in the County of Glamorgan who departed this Life August 12th 1810 aged 75 Years. Here lies beneath this silent clod, A sinner washed in Jesus precious blood. He fought the fight and gained the glorious prize, A Crown and signs triumphant in the skies. |
