Like the vast majority of the spiders in Canada, the grass spider is harmless to humans and actually helps to control pests that could damage crops.

The grass spider weaves a sheet of silk with a funnel that it can hide inside. The web is not sticky, so the grass spider has to run very quickly to grab its prey when it feels the vibrations through the web.
