Summary

[edit]
Description

Grove of larches south of Grass Lake, Monroe County.

These trees are probably European larches (Larix decidua) and may have been planted decades ago by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Native larches, or tamaracks (Larix laricina), are abundant in boreal conifer bogs and other wetlands across the Pocono Plateau.
